The problem was real and potentially disastrous.
Too many workers lacked the experience and specialized training to fall hazard trees safely in the dangerous environment of wildland fires.

In 2000 my partners and I formed a labor cooperative to train professional commercial timber fallers to work as hazard tree fallers on wildland fires during the summer, a time when they are often unemployed in their commercial logging operations. The cooperative evolved, and we incorporated as a privately held company, Northwest Timber Fallers, Inc., in 2003.

Northwest Timber Fallers (NWTF) is a HubZone, woman-owned, small business.
Our mission is to make hazard tree felling and removal on wildland fires safer, expand opportunities for experienced commercial timber fallers, and improve the professionalism and proficiency of hazard tree fallers working on wildland fire incidents nationwide.

We believe that the key to accomplishing that mission is establishing national standards
and providing excellent training programs for these commercial fallers.

Our signature service is the NWTF Faller Module Program,  a nationally recognized procurement “package” that agency fire managers and Incident Management staff enthusiastically support.

The Faller Module concept provides agency fire, finance and check-in personnel the resources they need and can trust for safety and expertise. NWTF has dispatched its special faller modules to numerous wildland fire incidents across the west. Our expertise goes beyond wildfires. Rapid dispatch is  possible because NWTF has fallers strategically located throughout the west,  including Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana and Northern California.

NWTF promise to you:
Rapid response. Peace of mind. Ease of ordering.
No surprises…just a job well done.
